I need some help here. I picked up a used jrsc kit recently which included a stepper alternator pulley (endyne i believe) and the 8psi blower pulley. Just to confirm, the blower pulley reads "3.8 4R" which i think is good for 8psi. Anyway, i was originally just going to trade someone straight up for the alternator pulley...but now that i discovered i have the 8psi pulley as well, i need to rethink things. I really just want 6psi. I have a 255 high flow pump so really i guess the only thing i would need to complete the JR 8psi "upgrade" would be a BTM. However, i am torn because i'm afraid that this increased power will just exacerbate the traction problem and cause my clutch to wear even faster. I also, don't want to spend much more $ getting all the electronics to run higher boost safely...
Should i sell the 8psi pulley or the stepper? both? anyone want to sell me their stock pulley's???

I'm sure someone will take the boost upgrade pullies off your hands. Was the used kit for a gsr or type-r? They come with different sized pullies. I would suggest the BTC even if you are only going to run the low boost. The MAP controller is a good idea also. I've seen a few used ones for sale. Be patient and check out the classifieds at honda-tech.com. That is THE BEST place to find used parts.
So since you need these to run 6psi you might as well run as high as you can. The stock engine enternals should hold up fine up to 10 psi. and the 255 pump should provide enough fuel. Just make sure you control detonation.
Try contacting endyne or Jim at MVM. They were very helpful with me, and seemed happy to answer all my questions.

Fred,
You forgot to mention that he is gonna need larger injectors, an adjustable FPR, and a Cartech....which=$$$ A fuel pump and timing controller won't save your ass at 9+psi.
People have run 8psi with nothing more than a fuel pump and a BTC but I don't recommend it.
Jabroni if you just want to run 6psi and will not want to go higher boost in the future (which you probably will) sell both pulleys and find a used 6psi pulley. Pick up the JR Map Mod, and be done with it. I was very happy with my car at 6psi.
However, knowing that there is a 99.9% chance you will get greedy and want more power in the future, I would pick up a used AEM FPR, a used Cartech 2005 or 2025, a set of 97+ Prelude injectors, and run the 8psi setup. I would also recommend a BTC or similar device and the JR Map Mod. I say 8psi over the stepper because in the long run the 1 less pound of boost might go a long way in saving your motor.

I have a 4.2" nose pulley which will lower your boost if you dont want to make all the investments right now.
$30 plus shipping. I take paypal

I just re-read the original post and noticed that he has an 8 psi BLOWER pulley instead of the 8 psi CRANK pulley. Since there is less surface area on these smaller blower pullies the belt is more likely to start slipping. It would be a good idea to find a stock blower pulley and increase the boost using the stepper and/or crank pulley upgrades.
I'm running 8 psi with just the BTC (set at ten clicks), MAP controller, and 255 pump. I have an ITR, but my stock injectors are the same as a GSR. I don't have any problem with detonation, but I'm running rich as hell. I'm sure I could crank out a few more horses with the cartech, etc., but I'm not sure if it is worth the money. I guess there is one way to find out.....Check you email, BoostedEX
The one thing that CROM said that I do agree with is that you WILL want more power. No matter what you have, you will always want a little more. Good luck with whatever you decide, and let us know how it turns out

You only agreed with me on one thing eh....
Let me change my statement...to do it 100% correctly you need the BTC, Injectors, AEM FPR, and Cartech 2005 or 2025. Or get some 440's and a Hondata.
One thing I did notice was after I installed my Cartech, AEM FPR and my 290cc injectors with my 6psi setup my car gained quite a bit more power and a much smoother powerband. I also picked up 2/10s of a second in the 8th mile(staying at 6psi). I think the combination of a better reacting-more tunable FMU, more precisely tuned fuel pressures that aren't rediculously high, and a little less timing retard made a WORLD of difference at 6psi, I can't imagine how shitty my car would be running right now if I hadn't taken these steps.
You might think I don't know what I'm saying, but I was one of the first guys with the JRSC on a GSR and I've gone through 55k miles with this thing and my car runs better than ever and my compression, etc.. is perfect. I've done all the work to my car myself and have learned through the years what works and what doesn't.

Thumbs up for BoostedEX...
I wish someone like him had been around about 2 years ago with all those goodies at a bargain price.

Thanks guys for the advice...i think that for sure i'll eventually want to upgrade the boost...however, for now, i am looking for just 6psi (its all relative anyway right?). Anyway, i will be picking up the nose pulley from LS avenger and i already have the "TPS hack" i purchased from Holden. Should i still get the map mod? or the btm? from what i understand, the tps hack and the map mod accomplish the same thing....as for the btm, i was under the impression it was more useful at higher boost levels...
thanks again.

Last time I checked, I thought the TPS hack only did half the things the Map Mod does.
The BTC enables you to run stock timing at idle, etc...when off of boost therefore you get better gas mileage when cruising on the highway and the car is more responsive off of boost (like getting going from a stop light or in stop and go traffic)
As far as upgrading boost.....It is much easier to do the boost upgrades now. Doing a blower pulley upgrade requires you to take the blower out again which is not fun and the stepper pulley, although much easier, is still not the most fun thing I could think of doing on a weekend.
